First of all, Luis, you are a genius. Thank you for this and other excelent programs. I am having a blast with TrackMe. The question I have would be in reference to live tracking multiple users on one screen. Is this possible?

Thank you.
Steve

Thanks for you comments!

What you mention it's not possible, however there are many users that have asked for that. I may consider to add that in the future, but I cannot guarantee it!

I'm sure you must get a lot of requests and questions on functionality. Thank you for your responce and for the excellent software. The more I use TrackMe, the more I love it. I cant resist tracking myself everywhere I go. My wife thinks I've lost my mind...she might be right.
Thanks again, and keep up the good work.

Did you ever consider implementing this? If not, I am running my own server, is there a SQL statement I can change that would extract the last position of each user when in Live tracking mode.

Regards

Mark

I'm not in charge of the web viewer. However a TrackMe user is rewritting it.
I'm not sure if he has in mind to implement that. You can contact him in the TrackMe's developer forum. His nickname is mcross.

On the other hand, if you check that forum, there is a user who added a plugin that shows an image with your last position.
Here is the forum:

Hope it helps

I have used Google Earth to track Live multiple users on one screen.
It is cool to see two riders heading toward each other, then meet at a prior unknown point when they become close to each other.

Worked great, until I now use Windows 7.
Now I can no longer track even a single user with Google Earth.
Gives a parsing error.
I can provide more info if needed, just tell me what you need.

------------------------------------------------------------------
From the tutorial:

(Start Google Earth)
1. Click on the top menu called ADD. Once there select NETWORK LINK

2. Copy/Paste the address with the location of the KML file where it says LINK.

--do not click--copy and paste address = http://luisespinosa.com/trackme/routes/yourusername.kml

3. If you want real-time tracking, Google Earth should reload this file periodically. You can do that, selecting the tab REFRESH and there specifying how often you want to refresh. Don't forget to check the option FLY TO VIEW ON REFRESH.

4. Click OK to save the settings.

Thanks for information, but have you been able to track 2 users at the same time in the same screen? I think that's what the user is looking for.

Cheers

Yes., live tracking, same screen, no input needed.

With Google Earth, for each network link you add, it creates that link with a check box on the left side (placemarks in sidebar). If a box is checked, it will track live. I have only tested with 2 boxes checked (2 trackme users), and both track live on the same screen at the same time, without any input needed from the person viewing.

My test was, my brother was riding his motorcycle 300 miles to my home. I did not tell him I was going to try to meet him. I rode my motorcycle towards his on the Interstate. From my home, wife viewed both riders live movements on same screen in Google Earth. After around 120 miles, she phoned me (bluetooth helmet with cellphone headset) we were close to each other, so I exited ramp and pulled in behind him without his knowledge. It was pretty cool. Could only do it with trackme and google earth.

Until I moved to Windows 7. Now Google Earth no longer tracks a single user.

Is the Google Earth info posted in prior message still correct today? Perhaps the address changed and is cauing the parsing error? Any other ideas of why Google Earth woudl display parsing error?

Fired up an old Windows XP machine and just now installed Google Earth.
Using the method posted a couple posts up, it worked great.
Added seperate network link to both riders and the live info for both appeared on the same screen, at same time for live tracking.

Do not use FLY TO VIEW ON REFRESH, since it would have you bouncing around between both riders. Instead just manually zoom in and out if needed, depending on how close they are to each other. Adjust update time to your liking, I use 4 seconds in google earth and on each bike with trackme I used 5 minutes, which on the Interstate is about 6 miles .

So there is a Windows 7 issue, not a trackme data issue.

the exact message I get with Windows 7 is:

Error while parsing file "http://luisespinosa.com/trackme/routes/myusername.kml" at line 6, column 0:

Unknown type <script>

RobsTV,

Thanks a lot for the information. I didn't know that you could do that!
I will add it to the FAQ right now.

I'm sorry but I really don't know why it doesn't work on Windows 7.
Hope somebody can help you.

Cheers

The issue I had with Google Earth no longer working with Trackme after I installed Windows 7 is solved.

Installed a new video card in the PC, HD 5770, and had BSOD if I tried changing resolutions. Searching, found new version of ATi drivers fixed an issue with changing resolutions and Microsoft Security Essentials. Disabled MSE, and sure enough, could change resolutions. This got me thinking. It is not always the obvious causing the problems.

Turns out the Google Earth issue was not Windows 7 related, but my spam blocker software, Ad Muncher, doing it's job. Adding the Trackme users URL to allowed in Ad Muncher, and GE now works great again with Trackme. Can again track multiple Trackme users live on the same screen at the same time.

Thanks again for the great software!!!
